Project 365 {week 9}

This was a very Charlie-centered week.

He was happy, then he was sick, then he was getting better, then sick again.

And to top it all off, in less than 2 weeks he will turn ONE!

Where did this past year GO?

February 24: Charlie has his first piece of bacon. He likes it. Obviously. He IS a Sluiter.

March 1: It's MARCH! And there is DAYLIGHT on my drive to work before 7am!

March 2: Baby Bird is sick again. Can't shake the cough, snot, and low-grade fever. And SO SLEEPY.

As I type this, Charlie is coughing from his bedroom.

He is such a trooper when he is sick, but I just want him to be better.

Especially since I spent a big slice of time this week at Party City, the Zeeland Bakery, and Target getting things ready for his big FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY in a couple weeks.

I mean, a year old.

Why yes, I will be an emotional weirdo for the next couple weeks.

Project 365 {week 7}

Oh this week.

The week that felt like one big long day.

The week of no sleep and worry and, as one of my best friends calls it, Sad Sick.

February 16: excited about his new super hero stuff...and sings to Sofia the First. Also spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa...feeling better.

There was a point from Wednesday to Friday where I only slept about 3 hours.

I called it WedThursFriday.

It sucked.

But not as much as seeing my little boy struggle with a fever that I could not take away for him.

Sick kids are the worst thing in the whole world.  Hands down.

Thank goodness he is doing better!

*************

Don’t forget the giveaways I have going on! The Bona Clara skin care sample pack ends Friday, and the Affresh Cleaning Prize Pack ends tonight!

Project 365 {week 5}

Oh hey…this week brings us to the second month of the year already.

January 27: Mom, this is gone. Wanna snuggle?

February 2: I do believe Charlie has inherited his uncle Chris's musical talent. ROCK ON, YO!

Also this week, Eddie went down to only an hour nap (and a couple days zero nap).

Charlie gave up baby food for good.  Just straight up turned his nose up to it.

Cort had a positive work week in many areas.

And I was accepted to grad school…for my second Masters Degree.  This time in Educational Technology.

I’d say this week rocked.

Project 365 {week 4}

This week marked the start of the second half of the school year and our first major snow storm of the season.

Charlie also decided he was done with any baby food-type foods.

Eddie gave up his Pipey.

And Cort and I wondered, yet again, how it’s possible for time to move so quickly.

January 26: Charlie loves watching the snow and the birds.

Eddie avoided the camera this week, but he had so much fun playing in the snow almost every day.

And the transition away from his Pipey (pacifier) has been easier than we could have imagined.

More on that tomorrow, though.

And someone brought it to my attention that I am in zero of these Project 365 pics (which is why I included a selfie this week).

I will try harder to get Cort to take some pics so I can be on here too.

Don’t blink…the end of this coming week has February attached to it.

I know, right? WHAT??

Project 365 {week 3}

Big small moments in the House of Sluiter this week, as you can see.

Charlie turned 10 months officially sending me in panic mode about his being that much closer to a year.

And Eddie gave up Pipey this week.

Just small moments in terms of the rest of the world, but pretty huge moments around here.

I have a feeling 2013 is the year of big small moments.

Project 365 {week 2}

The week that we went back to reality and schedules.

 Back to school, daycare, regularly scheduled programing.

Project 365 {week 1}

Here we go…starting over from week 1.

This time in 2013.

Technically this week has the booty-end of 2012 in it too.

See?

December 30: we started the year with this guy in my belly. Ending it with him just standing around.

December 31: Soda after 8pm and scrabble. We rung in the new year with all sorts of crazy.

January 5: Cort blesses me with a "Kate Day": coffee with a friend, shopping, and then dinner with another friend.

I would say 2013 has started of quietly and calmly.

If it could just stay this way, I will take it!

Also? This could be the last day you see Sluiter Nation looking this way…design changes coming all over the place!  WOOT!

Project 365 {week 50}

I know I complain about how busy we always are.

But in truth, we live such a blessed life.

This week Eddie told me, “Mom, I love books.  They make me happy.”

And Cort finished college.

And Charlie sat on his booty by himself for the first time.

And I soaked in my boys despite all that is going on in our lives and in the world.

This was our week…

December 9: Making presents for the Grandmas and Grandpas

I have many posts bumping around in my head about the weekend’s tragedies elsewhere in the US.

But I haven’t separated myself from the anger and sadness enough to write about them clearly.

You will probably see my thoughts on them here and over at Borderless News and Views.

I will probably post about my faith this coming week.

And I have a sponsored post by BlogHer this week too full of Christmas goodies.

I also need to tell you about the Santa visit in my detail.

And of course on Saturday I will bring you another recipe.

Things will be serious and fun and downright ridiculous around here.

You know, like usual.

Hug your family.

Project 365 {week 48}

The last week of November.

The beginning of December.

The beginning of the end of 2012.

Crazy, yo.

November 25: Sunday morning snuggles with his baby.

November 26: A baby in overalls. End of story.

November 27: His first Grinch experience.

November 28: These two.

November 29: no seriously…these two.

November 30: the end of a LONG FRIDAY {and week}. Sometimes that needs to be celebrated.

December 1: My shopping date for the morning. First stop? The “donut shop”.

Today also starts Advent and we are celebrating it daily in our house for the first time.

I am very excited.

Eddie is already really interested in the few verses we read each day and is asking lots of questions.

He also makes a top notch Christmas shopping buddy.

In case there was any question.

Let’s do this, December!

Project 365 {week 41}

This will forever be known as the week our bodies forced us to slow down.

And for once we listened.

October 7: I have no words for how cute this child is.

October 8: Project day in my English class

October 9: My body is already telling me it’s going to get sick. But this kid doesn’t care. at all.

October 10: I try to make myself feel better about being tired and stressed and getting sick by making {and eating} apple crisp.

October 11: I have no voice. Charlie doesn’t understand this weird phenomenon. Also he does not find this hat as funny as I do.

October 12: Flying children…and a very sick mommy and daddy (with bad colds)

October 13: We opt to stay home & cancel our trip to Chicago due to lack of sleep and horrible colds. We stayed home all day in jammies and took it easy.

Most of today {Saturday} was spend doing absolutely nothing.

Cort and I actually crawled into our bed during the boys’ nap to watch a movie and doze.

I don’t think we have done that since before having children.

Next weekend is the last of our busy weekends until Thanksgiving.

And we aim to keep it that way.

We need some family time..
