CafePress {Giveaway}

Recently I started posting recipes that my family loves.

I can’t lie; we love food in Sluiter Nation.

And I must say both Cort and I are pretty great cooks.  At least to our own taste buds we are.

And the only complaining Eddie has done is typical 3-year old complaining, so I count that as a win.

Anyway, like I said, both Cort and I cook.  I have a variety of aprons I wear when I cook or bake.  Even Eddie has his own little apron–which was mine when I was his age.

two-year old Eddie getting his cooking baking on!

But I think Cort needs his own apron too, right?

I mean, he is the master of Breakfast in this house and at least one night a week (usually two), he is in charge of cooking dinner for us.

He needs something that shows his personality, right?

Perhaps he needs a funny apron like this.

naked_bacon_apron_dark

Or perhaps a funny man apron that is more specific to his breakfast specialty and his man-ness.

real_men_make_waffles_gifts_apron

Or MAYBE he needs one that is personalized!

And this is where CafePress comes in…have you heard of them?  Used them perhaps?

I really love CafePress, I have used them to create all kinds of fun, personalized goodies: coffee mugs, t-shirts, even stationary things like biz cards, invitations, and thank you notes.

They are AWESOME.

And a lucky reader out there will get to win a $25 gift certificate good on any order (custom or not) from CafePress!

Just follow the directions in the Rafflecopter widget below.

And good lucky!

Legal Stuff: My compensation for this post is a custom apron from CafePress, however the opinions are all my own. I have used CafePress with my own money in the past and love their awesome service.

Baba + Boo Review {and Giveaway!}

2013-02-09 13.30.54

Being the second child and the second boy, poor Charlie doesn’t have many things that are new to him.  For Christmas he got a couple things, but really, he just didn’t need anything.

I kind of feel bad for him.  I mean, not that he cares, but he doesn’t have a lot that is just his.

When the UK company Baba and Boo announced that they would like to make a United States debut, I jumped at the chance to help them out and give Charlie a little something of his own.

As their welcome message says…

Welcome to a completely new shopping experience for your Babas and Boos…cloth nappies and funky fashion..

Admittedly I read everything on their site with a British accent.  A very bad British accent.

Ahem.

They have bunches and bunches of awesome cloth diaper products (if I were thinking of cloth diapering, this would probably put me over the edge to try. I mean, they even have cute reusable wipes!), and tons of super cute, unique clothing items.

They also have training pants that are like a diaper/undies hybrid. They help when you’re potty training your little one.  He/she feels the wet, but your flooring does not.  HOW AMAZING IS THAT?

I won’t lie, when I was contacted, I sort of wished Eddie hadn’t just been potty trained so we could try those out.

But alas, I have a potty trained 3-year old and not even close to potty training 11-month old.

So I picked a long-sleeved T-shirt for Charlie.

And doesn’t he look so cute?

2013-02-09 18.16.47

The shirts are nice and heavy-duty, totally not thin or flimsy.  They also have the neckline that is similar to a onsie, which I like because I can clip Charlie’s paci-clip to it.

I also liked how unique the design is.

I have a tendency to buy all things Carters since we have an outlet just down the road.  But then my kids look like all the other kids in America.  This is affordable and different.

Plus they carry baby legs.  If you follow me on instagram, you know I love baby legs.

I love Baba and Boo.

I am pretty sure you will too.  Especially since they want to give one of you a T-shirt for the little peanut in your life!

Just follow the directions in the widget below to enter.  And good luck!

Legal Stuff: Baba + Boo sent me the t-shirt pictured above and they will be providing a t-shirt to the winner of this contest.  They did not provide my opinions.  Those are my own.

Affresh Review and Giveaway

2013-02-02 10.34.56

My least favorite thing to do in this world is cleaning.

My most favorite thing in this world is having a clean, organized life.

You see my problem, yes?

We used to have a cleaning lady, but alas, that is not in the budget anymore.  So the next best thing is to find products I don’t hate that help make my life easier.

This is where Affresh enters into my life.

Affresh sent me five of their newest products: the appliance cleaner, the stainless steel cleaner, the stove top cleaner, the dishwasher cleaner, and the washing machine cleaner.

And I’ll be honest, getting a box load of shiny new cleaning supplies made me want to, well, clean!  No, really, I wanted to sniff it to see what it would smell like, but that is weird (and probably rather harmful), so instead I took a Saturday and cleaned ALL THE THINGS.

First I tackled my stove.

Friends, white appliances are a stupid invention.  My stove was nasty and it had been less than a week since it’s last good clean.

why yes, I did burn milk on the stove top. Doesn't everyone have this issue?

why yes, I did burn milk on the stove top. Doesn’t everyone have this issue? And it appears we had pasta that week too by the red sauce that I spy.

Gross.

So anyway, I covered it in Affresh stove top cleaner and gave some of the really nasty spots a good scrub with the little blue scrubby pads that come with it.

2013-02-02 13.13.40

BAM!  Sparkling clean!

I really thought it would take more elbow grease and/or have a stinky bleachy smell, but it was fairly easy to clean (yes, even with all the nasty that piled up over the week).  It also had a clean, fresh (it IS called Affresh, after all) scent to it.

Then I tackled our sink and the appliances and surfaces.

clean stainless steel sink.

clean stainless steel sink.

Cleaned up the appliances and even the surfaces.

Cleaned up the appliances and even the surfaces.

I really loved the citrius smell of these products.  They reminded me of how my mom used to use a lemon-scented product to do the dusting and mopping of the floors.  Citrus is the “clean” smell of my childhood.

The tablets for cleaning the dishwasher probably would have worked better if my dishwasher didn’t suck.  They did leave it with a nice clean smell, so there’s that.

Also the tablets for cleaning the washing machine worked well, but I don’t have a picture because I didn’t wash out the fabric softener thingy and I am too embarrassed to show you all how gross I have let that get.  But it also left my washer smelling fresh and not mildewy.

After I was done cleaning on Saturday, I sat back and enjoyed it…for about 30 minutes before someone spilled something somewhere.

But the nice scent stayed on after spills reappeared.

Do you want to try Affresh too?  Yeah you do!  Enter to win the same pack of cleaning supplies that I used: The Appliance Cleaner, the Stove Top Cleaner, the Stainless Steel Cleaner, the Dishwasher Cleaner, and the Washing Machine Cleaner.

Just enter in the Rafflecopter widget below.

Bucks for Lists

If you’re anything like my family, you are busy keeping one eye on the internet watching for deals, giveaways, and free stuff this time of year.

Giving is one of my most favorite thing ever (yes, even more than getting), and every year I wish that we just had MORE so I could give more.

Well, I have a chance for you to possibly win some Amazon money to jump start your holiday shopping…or buy yourself a little treat.

I’ve told you before that I am in love with BabyHuddle, yes?

I have found myself wasting time researching for Charlie’s Christmas list numerous times.  Instead of browsing entire categories of products, I usually head over to the Lists Section.

These are made for parents by parents.  They are products real people have used and are recommending.  I’ll take that instead of overwhelming myself by looking through a million different bottle choices any day.

Anyway, list-making is super easy.  Here is one I  made today…

All products I have used for feeding that I would definitely recommend to someone.
Ok, I know…you want to know how to win some Amazon bucks, yes?
All you have to do is register as a BabyHuddle user and create a list.  Seriously. It’s that easy.
The first person to create an account on BabyHuddle US* with a profile picture using the above link a list  will automatically win $10 to Amazon**. Yippee!  So quick sign up and make a list!
In order to qualify, Lists must…
  • have a description of what the list is
  • include at LEAST 7 products
  •  include annotations for each product
But wait! There’s more!
Everyone* who creates a profile with picture and makes a list according to the rules above will be entered to win Amazon dinero!  In order to win, you need to get people to “vote” for you list by clicking the “helpful” button next to your list.
There will be THREE winners…
  1. List with the most helpful votes wins $50
  2. List with the 2nd most helpful votes wins $30
  3. List with the 3rd most helpful votes wins $10
So to recap…
  • Sign up for BabbleHuddle using this link.
  • Upload a profile picture.
  • Create a list of a least 7 products with annotations (first person to do this gets $10 to Amazon automatically)
  • Encourage people to check out your list and click “helpful” next to the list.
  • The top three lists with the most “helpful” votes will win!

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post.  I just want to spread the cheer of winning a little extra moolah for the holidays.  Also I love BabyHuddle and would love to see you all there!

Safety is as Safety Does {Giveaway!}

Blogging has brought me many things that I wouldn’t otherwise have the privilege of having in my life.

I’ve met people from all over the country.

People all over the world read my words.

I have made real friends who would have been inaccessible to me without the world of the written word.

I have flown across the country all alone to meet (and shack up with) women I only knew through avitars and words.

I have family pictures hanging in my house of friends in Mexico, Canada, and all over the USA.

Blogging has also brought me opportunities to save money for my children’s college funds, their Christmas and birthday presents, and other needs they have.

This past weekend blogging brought me to yet another place I would have never imagined.

Saturday I spent my afternoon in my local Babies R Us as part of a nationwide (50 cities!) product launch event for Graco referred to on social media as GracoSafety.  When did this become my life?!?

I was (am!) completely humbled to be chosen by SITS Girls to be a part of this huge event.

We kicked it all off at 1pm with our first of two sessions. With the help of the lovely Amanda, I did a demonstration of the new Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 car seat for a small, but super interested audience.  Amanda took lots of pics and tagged them with the #GracoSafety hashtag…along with all the rest of the participants in sessions all over the country.

Cort and I are big Graco fans, so to be part of this was awesome.  We already own the Graco Snugride 34, and so I felt super confident in my demonstration skills to show the new features on the Click Connect 40.

And I must say, by the time the day was over, I was super sad that this didn’t come out a year earlier while I was pregnant with Charlie.

Some of my favorite features include…

  • It is the only infant car seat that provides rear-facing protection for babies from birth to two-years old.  4 pounds up to 40 pounds.
  • The base has 8 recline positions so it can go from an infant carrier, to permanent rear-facing car seat for your child up to two years (40 pounds)
  • It’s super cute with it’s inserts to keep tiny babies cozy and comfy.
  • All the adjustments are simple and can be done with one hand: the harness, the head adjustment, even putting the seat in and out of the base.
  • There is no more re-threading of the straps as baby grows (my husband’s jaw dropped when he heard this since he is always on car seat strap adjustment patrol in our house).  It’s all done on the back of the seat.
  • it is light and easy to carry.
  • It’s unbelievably easy to use, so when you are running errands and in and out of the car with the baby, you won’t feel like your arms are falling off.

Honestly I was afraid that I would sound like a sales rep for Graco, but as a mom of two, I truly fell in love with this product.

The best parts of the day?  Giving away two of these seats!

I was totally jealous of the winners since Charlie is at that awkward age (7 months) where he is really too big for the carrier, but we don’t have another rear-facing car seat available (thanks to his brother being too young/small to graduate from the convertible seat to a booster) for him to switch.

Lucky for us, Graco has us covered there too.  I see a trip to the store in our future.

Anyway, back to the Click Connect.

It is the bees knees, and the next time we get a bun in my oven?  We will be trading in our old Snugride so we can get credit toward a new Click Connect 40 (because oh yes, Babies R Us has the trade in program!  Bring in your expired seat and get credit toward a new one).

The Graco Snugride Click Connect 40 is exclusively available at Babies R Us, so you know what I get to do?  Give one of you lucky peeps a $25 Gift Card to Babies R Us!

Aw yeah.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment below about how you would spend the $25 if you win.

That’s it. Easy peasy.

Contest is open from Thursday, October 25 at midnight EST until Thursday, November 1 at midnight EST.

The Graco SnugRide® Click Connect™ 40 – the first and only newborn to two-year infant car seat that actually grows with your baby from four pounds all the way up to 40 pounds. The car seat is designed for a parent on the go. The infant car seat can be easily removed from the base and used as a carrier when the infant is small, providing portability and convenience so you can easily move your infant in and out of the car without disturbing them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recently made the recommendation to keep all children in rear-facing car seats until the age of 2. Graco set out to make this product so parents can keep infants rear facing longer while still keeping them comfortable.

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Graco. The opinions and text are all mine.

papersalt {review and giveaway}

I love books.

I love learning.

I love quotes.

I love reading to my children to help them learn with good quotes.

And this is where Papersalt comes in.

Papersalt is simple, effective, to-the-point books and other tools for kids and family.

I admit I was skeptical at first. I mean, they look cute, but as a fairly progressive parent, something called “Being a Boy” had me a bit worried about gender stereotypes.

But I cracked it open and it was…fabulous.

Our goal is to deliver “just enough” content, with cool designs, that kids (and adults) will pay more attention to.

Eddie sat through the whole thing, asked some questions, and listened.  I couldn’t believe it.  Also?  I love the messages.

There is one called Being a Girl also, that I imagine is just as wonderful.  I am seeing these books in the future as baby gifts for all new babies in my life.  They are just so lovely.

Another one that I have is We Do. Cort and I are guilty of saying “we don’t do {fill in the blank}” a LOT in our house.  This book is filled with stuff we DO do.  It’s awesome.  I am think I will display a new page a day on rotation.  It’s that awesome.

I also have the Quotes book.  This one I display on the windowsill by our sink.  I change the quote daily on this one for a little piece of brain food each day.

And lastly, I have the “ME” journal. This one is just for me.  I love it because it has little prompts/quotes at the top of each page to write about.  Writing out by hand.  Sigh…my first love.

This is just a sampling of what Papersalt has to offer.  All their books are cute, clean, simple, and awesome.

…no fluff…just “need-to-know” things.

They make wonderful gifts: for graduates, new parents, seasoned parents, yourself…

I really could have just ordered a few of every single book and found people to randomly give them to.

So you want some?

Yeah you do.

Papersalt is letting me give TWO lucky readers TWO books of their choice from the Papersalt collection.  So head over there, check it out, and then come back and enter to win!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

The Legal Stuff: Papersalt is generously providing the spoils of this giveaway.  I was sent the four books above to review, but I was not sent my opinions.  Those are my own.  Their stuff is cool, yo. This giveaway is open to residents of the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico.  Contest ends Friday at 12:01am est.

Minted {a Giveaway!}

The search for the perfect invitations, thank you notes, announcements, holiday cards, etc. is pretty endless on the internet, isn’t it?

There are about 40 bazillion places you could go, and to be quite honest, they all start looking the same after awhile.

Except.  Not minted.

Minted is unique in that it is a community of designers, and it accepts design submissions.  Each design you see on the site was submitted, voted on by the community (which YOU can become a member and vote too!), and then accepted.

It’s pretty neat.

I was recently gifted $50 from minted to spend however I like.

As I was digging around I found the minted blog.  It showcases their modern, clean look and gives readers a taste of what the product looks like “in real life.”

I got pretty excited about my $50.

I mean…how was I going to spend it?

I have some baby showers I am throwing this fall.  One is for my brother and sister-in-law and their new baby girl.  minted has a TON of super cute baby shower invitations.  I could get invitations like this:

is this my personality or what?

Or maybe I would get some personalized stationary like this:

or like this:

Or maybe a baby journal to keep notes of all the cute things Charlie does and all of his milestones.  You know, like this:

Or wait.  minted has art prints too!  Maybe I could get something for Charlie’s room like this:

Or something for our bedroom like this one:

Seriously, the choices are ENDLESS.  minted has every kind of stationary you can think of from cards to art prints to business cards to invitations to…everything.

And, as the title of this post says, they are giving YOU something.

One of you lucky ducks will win $50 to minted + free shipping!

And the best part?  IT’S OPEN TO EVERYONE!

So get your entering on…

The Legal Stuff: minted is providing the spoils of this giveaway. I was compensated for this giveaway with a $50 credit to minted.com.  All opinions are my ow, and I can’t wait to spend my $50 and give $50 to one of you!

I have talked so extensively about my love of Torie and her work.

I have sported her headbands and necklaces and rings and bracelets and pins.

I love everything she creates.

And I really love her.

Last summer we got to meet in person…both of us newly pregnant and trying to navigate BlogHer among the drunks.

My one regret is that I didn’t give myself the time to just sit with her and chat and laugh.
