papersalt {review and giveaway}

I love books.

I love learning.

I love quotes.

I love reading to my children to help them learn with good quotes.

And this is where Papersalt comes in.

Papersalt is simple, effective, to-the-point books and other tools for kids and family.

I admit I was skeptical at first. I mean, they look cute, but as a fairly progressive parent, something called “Being a Boy” had me a bit worried about gender stereotypes.

But I cracked it open and it was…fabulous.

Our goal is to deliver “just enough” content, with cool designs, that kids (and adults) will pay more attention to.

Eddie sat through the whole thing, asked some questions, and listened.  I couldn’t believe it.  Also?  I love the messages.

There is one called Being a Girl also, that I imagine is just as wonderful.  I am seeing these books in the future as baby gifts for all new babies in my life.  They are just so lovely.

Another one that I have is We Do. Cort and I are guilty of saying “we don’t do {fill in the blank}” a LOT in our house.  This book is filled with stuff we DO do.  It’s awesome.  I am think I will display a new page a day on rotation.  It’s that awesome.

I also have the Quotes book.  This one I display on the windowsill by our sink.  I change the quote daily on this one for a little piece of brain food each day.

And lastly, I have the “ME” journal. This one is just for me.  I love it because it has little prompts/quotes at the top of each page to write about.  Writing out by hand.  Sigh…my first love.

This is just a sampling of what Papersalt has to offer.  All their books are cute, clean, simple, and awesome.

…no fluff…just “need-to-know” things.

They make wonderful gifts: for graduates, new parents, seasoned parents, yourself…

I really could have just ordered a few of every single book and found people to randomly give them to.

Minted {a Giveaway!}

The search for the perfect invitations, thank you notes, announcements, holiday cards, etc. is pretty endless on the internet, isn’t it?

There are about 40 bazillion places you could go, and to be quite honest, they all start looking the same after awhile.

Except.  Not minted.

Minted is unique in that it is a community of designers, and it accepts design submissions.  Each design you see on the site was submitted, voted on by the community (which YOU can become a member and vote too!), and then accepted.

It’s pretty neat.

I was recently gifted $50 from minted to spend however I like.

I could be a poster child for Twenty Five Design.

I have talked so extensively about my love of Torie and her work.

I don’t know about you, but cleaning up toys is my least favorite thing ever.

I hate to do it AND my kid hates to do it.

And when those toys are BATH toys that are all wet?

Boo.

We have like a million letters and numbers for the tub.  Fishing those suckers out? Is the opposite of fun.

I wish SOMEONE out there made a scoop that was also the storage for the bath toys.

I’ve shown you guys Charlie’s Nursery, right?

To change up the space after Eddie was there, we bought new letters for the wall from Jaborandi Grove.

Jen of Jaborandi Grove describes how the shop was born:

I’ve always loved to create – art, music, dance, writing. After graduating with an English degree, I fell into a career in graphic design where I happily made a home. I’m perpetually on the lookout for fresh ideas and new challenges. A few years ago when I was looking for ways to decorate our oldest daughter’s bedroom, I came across some monograms that inspired me to create decorative wall letters. I decided to open Jaborandi Grove’s Etsy shop last August and feature those.

We adore our letters and they get compliments and inquiries from everyone who visits the nursery.

I love to work with clients to develop custom products. I recently completed 3′ x 8′ banners for set design at church and 4″ x 2″ place cards for an anniversary party – no project is too big or too small!

Jen is super easy to work with.  We emailed back and forth, I sent her pics of the room so she could get an idea of color, and BOOM!

She sent us a preview that was PERFECT and exactly what I had in my mind!

Sew Curly was born out of my need to be more than just a mother to the 3 girls we had in 3 years. I took my passion for sewing and designing and put it towards creating things that made our lives as a family easier and more convenient. Every product I make is thoroughly tested by my own kids (who are very honest and picky critics). Every product is used daily in our home, minus the baby items that we have now outgrown. I love doing custom orders and collaborating with customer’s visions. In the shop and you’ll find snack and sandwich bags, chalkcloth placemats, personalized blankets & burp cloths, and appliquéd shirts & onesies, along with some other items. Go and take a look at the shop and you’ll find that I make things you’ll love for the loves in your life.

I think we own at least one of everything in her shop…except those placemats…which I will totally have to change.  The boys need those.  Obviously.
