Yesterday was the big ultrasound.

All was healthy and well.

And then we found out the sex of the baby.

And I laughed so hard that the ultrasound tech had to wait until my tummy stopped jiggling to continue.

Because there were no boy parts.

We are having a girl.

Alice Katherine Sluiter.

(I can’t upload pictures to the blog right now, so if you want to see how I revealed it on the facebook, head over to my Sluiter Nation page).

About Katie

Just a small town girl...wait no. That is a Journey song. Katie Sluiter is a small town girl, but she is far from living in a lonely world. She is a middle school English teacher, writer, mother, and wife. Life has thrown her a fair share of challenges, but her belief is that writing through them makes her stronger.

  1. Katie, I’m so happy for you! I have one girl and 2 boys, just in reverse of you. I’ve been reading your blog since Eddie was a baby and my heart is just smiling for you and your family. Since my youngest was born, I don’t read any blogs as much as I used to or write my own blog as much as I used to, but today I was waiting to hear the news. Sounds a little stalker-ish…I’m not crazy, promise 🙂 Anyway, really excited for you. Congratulations!

    • You do not sound crazy AT ALL. In fact, I have a few blogs that I have been following for a LONG time too…and I love that you’re still around even after all that time! And YAY for a girl! I think I am still in shock a little 🙂

  2. Congratulations! Let the shopping begin. 🙂

  3. I’m happy everything is good with the baby and so happy for you that you are having a girl. I knew it. Congratulations!

    • I was so relieved that everything looked good, I almost forgot to ask the gender. I just assumed it was a boy. In fact, I kept asking if HE was ok and if HIS heart looked good. Then there were no boy parts. WHAT? 🙂 in shock and pretty excited all at once. 🙂

  4. Congratulations! I read often but rarely comment. So happy for you and your sweet family. Hoping the anxiety will subside now that you have had the ultrasound.

    • Thank you so much, Wendy! We are pretty excited, and the anxiety about baby’s healthy has now turned into shock and a case of the giggles over baby being a GIRL! 🙂

  5. I know you would be happy with a healthy baby boy or girl but…. yay for girls!! (Says the mother of 2)

    • I really would have been happy with either, and I was totally expecting another boy…but this is wonderful news and we are so excited 🙂

  6. Woot! So exited for you and your dear BOYS. xoxo

  7. I’m still smiling…I love her name, I love knowing the boys will have a baby sister, I’m so glad she is healthy and growing and you are doing well.
    LOVE all around. XO

  8. Congratulations!! Her name is absolutely beautiful 🙂 Welcome to the wonderful world of being a girl Mama! You’re the opposite of me (I’m expecting my third in a few weeks and we’re adding a boy to the two-girl mix!) so I’m learning from you as I go 🙂

  9. ALICE!!!!!!

    Love that name so much.
    And you.

  10. I love the name.

    And you.

And I just realised that I almost wrote the exact same comment as Julie. 🙂

  11. Congratulations! I’m so excited for you and your boys!

  12. Congratulations!
