some kind of wonderful

Last night he held me while I shook with sobs.

He didn’t say it would be fine or that everything would be good in the end.

He knows better.

After nine years of marriage, we both know better.

But he held me and told me I was wonderful.

This is why we are together…why nine years has flown by despite all the loss and struggle.

We hold each other.

And remind each other of our wonderfulness.

Happy anniversary, Cortney. I love you.

Thank you for being wonderful.

  11. that’s a wonderful gift — someone who will just stand with you, when the whole rest of the world is spinning. That’s what I asked for so often: someone who would just stand still with me. Someone who “got” the need for “ssssshhhhh” when my brain got too noisy.
    Happy Anniversary.
