meth and musicals

We don’t watch much network TV. No one is interested in those competition shows about singing or dancing or getting voted off islands or out of houses.  Other than the local news, SNL, and Jimmy Falon, there just isn’t anything we care about on network TV.

We also don’t get too into series shows. Cortney records a few things (in addition to SNL because it’s just on too late) for us to watch later, but we are more hit and miss with watching shows from a series.

That is a nice thing about Netflix–there are a LOT of shows that you can watch full season of–even some you can watch full series of.

We just recently “discovered” Breaking Bad.  Yes, we in Sluiter Nation have just caught up with 2008.

People have been telling us forever that we would love the show, but we didn’t want to start in the middle of the show, and if we had recorded it, it would have just sat on the DVR because we hadn’t watched the first ones.

And then Netflix came into our lives. If there isn’t a Tiger ball game on, we are usually watching an Walter and Jesse and their shenanigans.

Of course, Breaking Bad is for after the kids go to bed.

The kids have discovered the wonderful world of musicals.

Eddie loved Frozen so much, I knew he would love the Disney musicals Netflix had to offer. I was right. We have now watched Mulan, the Lorax, and a bunch of others. The boys sing and dance and go crazy for them.

In fact, I can usually hear Eddie singing a version of the songs in the bathroom whether he is in the tub or on the can. It would be sweet if it wasn’t so hilarious.

I can’t wait until he is old enough to watch Grease and Footloose with me!

What are your favorite series shows or musicals? What should we cue up next?

About Katie

Just a small town girl...wait no. That is a Journey song. Katie Sluiter is a small town girl, but she is far from living in a lonely world. She is a middle school English teacher, writer, mother, and wife. Life has thrown her a fair share of challenges, but her belief is that writing through them makes her stronger.

  1. I do love Netflix but i just don’t get Breaking Bad. Husband recently started watching it but I prefer New Girl

  2. I have a Roku and an Apple TV and swear by Netflix. We don’t have network television in our house either. I don’t watch that much television, but I do like that I can find shows and movies when I want to watch something.

  3. I love Netflix. Love it. I don’t even have television anymore. Just Netflix and Amazon Prime. I binge-watch series that others have been watching for years. I’ve finally almost gotten caught up with Supernatural. I watched the first 2 episodes of Breaking Bad, and I’m sure that’s going to be the next binge.

  4. I haven’t watched too much TV lately – my bed is so much more attractive than whatever’s on TV. I go through spurts, though, and tape both Jimmy Fallon and SNL to watch during normal hours.
