Old School Blogging…The Fridge Edition

I am so excited to be co-hosting this month’s edition of Old School Blogging with my friend Elaine of The Miss Elaine-ous Life.

This month we want to know what is on your fridge (or in or on top of, whatever).

I giggled when she told me this month’s meme because the front of my fridge is always a train wreck and I will admit this is what it looks like when it’s CLEAN.  Yikes.

Ok, so let’s start.

This is what it looks like:

2013-08-05 15.38.08

Let’s start with the front.

We have numerous pictures that have been sent to us–mostly of kids (some related to us, some not), but there is a school picture of my best friend, Tonya, up there.  She’s a teacher and so she gets pictures every year too, so of course  I have it on the fridge.

I also throw birth announcements up there. Currently the same Tonya’s new little man, William, has a prime piece of real estate right there by the handle to the freezer.

Then there are the millions of magnets.  Sluiters apparently cannot say no to a tacky magnet, so there they are. They range from the ones Cortney has gotten from bowling (they do this instead of patches now, I guess? Weird.) to homemade ones (the scibbled Noah’s Ark) to souvenirs (the buffalo butt from Wall Drug in SD).

Then there is our “All Out Of” notepad.  I won one of these years back in a blog giveaway and we loved it so much we have reordered a zillion time.  Next to that is our menu for the week.

We also have a letter opener, the poem “Footsteps”, some chip clips, a couple comic strips, the non-emergency number for the county cops, and a coupon for a free donut hanging up there.

Oh, and two magnet toy things: a barn thing and an ABC thing…without the magnets that go in them because I got so sick of stepping all over them on my kitchen floor that I put them in a baggie and threw them in the toy room downstairs.  What?

The top of the fridge is like a collection area for all things that no one knows what to do with, but aren’t ready to dump yet.

We have crafts from Bible School and daycare shoved up there, wii remotes so Charlie can’t reach them, the candle that used to be in the center of the kitchen table but that Charlie kept grabbing for, a pile of movies, m&ms, Boogie Wipes, my purse, the bill basket, and some unidentified crap.

And yes, I said the fridge is CLEAN right now.

Ok your turn! Let’s see your fridge! I doubt anyone has as much crap junk stuff as I do, but I’ll let you try.

Post a picture and link up!

  1. Ooh, I want that All Out Of notepad!

The top of our fridge is a no-go zone. By that I mean, please don’t go there, it’s full of crap and dust and goodness knows what.

So fun this month, must link up!

  2. I have the “All out of” notepad! And lots more from the Knock Knock brand – like “note to self” and “shit to do” and many more, I love their stuff.
Also – note to self – must clean top of my fridge…

  3. My fridge is not fit for public eye. I have a handle missing, the alphabet letters everywhere, magnets, pizza coupon and old pictures on it!

  4. I want that “All out of”thing too! I think you are going to have to let us know where you get that!

And also, have you seen my fridge yet?! πŸ˜‰

  5. OH GIRLFRIEND, wait until you see MY FRIDGE. Just the numerous pictures of HARRY POTTER and Narnia should be enough to say “Please , please click off that site!!!”

I almost can’t wait to take the picture, maybe it will give me the kick in the ass I need to clean it off. πŸ˜‰

    love your fridge and you.

  6. I keep throwing out our ABC magnets, they are Melissa and Doug and when they get wet they just fall apart.

    • aw. that is a bummer. Ours are all in a baggie somewhere. I wish we had another surface for them because on the fridge drives me batty…because it’s really on the kitchen floor.

  7. OH. Challenge accepted. πŸ™‚ We have so much stuff on the fridge and on top. I’m glad I’m not the only one!

  8. OH I am so doing this.. because my fridge is stainless steel on the front there are no magnets because they won’t stick.. the side however is open territory.. the top umm yeah.. I will link up in a bit. .

  9. I love how the bottom part of your fridge is naked, just like mine.

  10. I have a lame fridge that isn’t magnetic, so I have a couple of things taped to it, but it’s not nearly as cool as yours. ): Lucas would loves ABC magnets!

  11. Oh, geez. I forgot about what’s ON TOP. Yikes. That’ll be fun if I do this one. πŸ˜‰

  12. As I’m reading this I’m having a new refrigerator installed.
    (I KNOW! So exciting, really.)

Don’t worry, though; by next week, mine will be a mess again.

But not from kid crafts. DANG it.
    I miss those hard.

  13. Ha…love seeing another All Out Of fan! And the leapfrog barn wasn’t on my fridge only because my kid has pulled it off.

    • yeah, stupid Leap Frog things are usually all over the floor, hence the animals and ABCs being banished to a baggie.

And WOOT for the All Out Of notepad!

  14. I think a good filled up fridge front is the sign of a house made into a home. Sadly, mine here at the rental is bare. Really bare. I’m not worried though. Soon as school starts we’ll have some artwork there. I don’t doubt it. πŸ™‚

  15. That All out of seems brilliant! I want one! Your fridge front looks just as “clean” as mine πŸ™‚ Thanks for co-hosting.

  16. I left the top of mine out of the whole thing. The front and side was enough chaos for one post. This was a lot of fun! πŸ™‚

    Thank you!

  17. Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving a comment. I love your fridge. It looks like mine used to, when my kids were still kids and growing up. You haven’t seen tacky magnets until you’ve seen my Mom’s fridge. It is a collection of magnets from everywhere they have traveled and every where any one else in the family has traveled. If I can get over there soon, I’ll take a picture and share. You have no idea. πŸ˜‰

  18. Our fridge has a cupboard right above it so there is very little room for putting things on top– though in our old house when it was different I definitely used it for putting things I did not want the kids to get. I love that everything is on the top and only a couple of things on the bottom

  19. I want that barn! πŸ™‚ We have a collection of alphabet magnets, but rather than throwing them on the floor, my toddler likes to hid them in our bed (yes, our bed, not his.) It’s so annoying!!

  20. Dude, that’s not bad at all. I think we all must have had those farm magnets at some point.

  21. I so get you getting rid of the two magnet toy things. I am about to do the same!

  22. I feel like EVERYONE has the poem Footsteps somewhere in their home (mine is in the upstairs hallway haha) – and I LOVE that ‘All Out Of’ notepad πŸ™‚

  23. Those alphabet magnets kill me! The kids have a magnet board in the back where they play with those and the barn animals and some sort of refrigerator that has magnet foods. This is so much fun, even though nothing goes on my fridge. I still have my old travel magnets but our fridge is not magnetic so that’s a no go!

And the All out of pad – I love it. We just keep it in the drawer πŸ™‚

  24. You have a menu for the week? I’m impressed! We had that same Leap Pad barnyard magnet thing. My son loved that thing. Thanks for hosting! πŸ˜‰
