Other places you can find my writing from this week…

On Borderless News and Views, I wrote about how my being a teacher has nothing to do with politics: Politics Aside: I am a Teacher.

I also wrote about how I am proud to be a member of the teachers union and I tried to dispel some misconceptions about the need for unions: Union Proud.

About Katie

Just a small town girl...wait no. That is a Journey song. Katie Sluiter is a small town girl, but she is far from living in a lonely world. She is a middle school English teacher, writer, mother, and wife. Life has thrown her a fair share of challenges, but her belief is that writing through them makes her stronger.

  1. i’m so glad you are proud to be a union member! unions are so important.

  2. Hello!

I just started reading your blog (LOVE it, by the way!) and when I saw this post I knew I had to comment. I volunteered at Brittany’s Hope Foundation for four years while I was in college and I was able to see first-hand just how much of an impact the foundation has on people’s lives. I’m so thrilled you featured the foundation in your blog post! Thank you for helping to spread the word about a great organization!
