Are my roots showing?

The other day I posted some Then and Now pictures comparing what I looked like in high school to now. I mentioned at the end of the post that with these comparisons you couldn’t tell that I had gone through a REALLY LONG blond phase.

Some comments were made that it is hard to imagine that I ever had blonde hair.

Funny, I had it for so long, sometimes I catch myself in the mirror and I forget that my hair is so dark.

I went blonde in college.

me with my friend Phil. This is actually post-college, but not by much.

I was blonde when I got married.

In fact, I was blonde until my pregnancy with Eddie.

summer of 2008...just before getting pregnant with Eddie.

It was then that I decided that I just couldn’t keep up with being blonde anymore.  Between the rapid hair growth due to my prenatal vitamins and my lack of wanting to spend tons of money on my hair, I went back to my dark roots.

taken shortly after finding out I was pregnant...the process begins...

By the time Eddie arrived, I was a brunette again.

Just a week or two after Eddie's arrival. I have not gone back to blonde since.

Now the only roots I worry about are the grey ones.

O_O

Anyway.  I have other roots.

My writer roots.

And I am talking about them over at Erin’s place.

Remember Erin?  She was over here on Wednesday.  And now I am at her place.

Please go visit and read about how I came to be writing things down instead of just talking at people.

  1. I think you are a beautiful brunette.

    Hopping on over to Erin’s!

  2. I have a hard time picturing you as a blonde – you’ve been a brunette for as long as I’ve followed you, and, well, your personality seems to be brunette-ish.

    Hopping on over to Erin’s.

    • I agree…if there is a brunette-ish personality? I have it. Growing up, the mysterious, somewhat evil dark haired characters were always my favorite. Blonde was sort of an accident.

Glad I switched back to my “roots” 🙂

  3. That was me exactly! I started with highlights and was blonde BLONDE! when Craig and I met. Its funny to look back at now.

    • yes! It started so innocently. Highlights here and there. And then all of a sudden? MY WHOLE HEAD WAS BLONDE. For like EVER!

And I simply cannot imagine you as a blonde AT ALL.

  4. I’m so impressed you can pull off both blonde and brunette. I’m a terrible blonde. I have too much eyebrow.

    • I used to have too much eyebrow. Then I waxed the living daylights out of it…I mean them. Now I have two and they are sort of too skinny.

But you can have the bangs. I am jealous of the bangs.

    • Also we should clarify “pull off”. Some of those blonde pictures are not quite “pulling” anything “off”.

  5. I like the blonde…. And the not-blonde. 🙂

  6. I think you look nice both ways. It seems to work for you. Some people couldn’t pull off blonde if they tried… I was born a brunette and now I’m more or less a red head. 🙂 (But never a blonde.)

  7. I think you look younger as a brunette! I have always been blonde so never worried about dying my hair but these days, it’s essential to cover up those dreadful signs of ageing!

  8. Oh, I am so with you on the grey roots! They are the death of our “hair budget”, but I’m just not willing to go all natural gray in my early 30s. 🙂

  9. The brown hair suits you. You did look great as a blond too though. I know exactly what you mean about the upkeep. I get highlights and it is so hard and EXPENSIVE to keep up with it. I used to go dark in the fall and blond in the summer, but my grandma used to always yell at me when I went dark. She thinks I should be a blond, or that I look better as a blond. I think she should pay for my highlights! 😉 One of these days I am just going to give up.

  10. Huh. I think I like you as a brunette better. But either way, you’re beautiful. 🙂
