McFatty…trying again…again.

I feel like every dang time I am here I am either reporting weight gain or back to square one and starting over.

Sigh…

For each of you who commented that last week’s five pound weight gain was the fault of the Evil Lady Week?  I think you were right.

This morning the scale was at 197.  That is six pounds down from last week.  So the Evil Lady Week bloat minus a pound is gone.

The loss of a pound I attribute to being sick this week.

So, that puts us back to 198.  Which is where I was when I started this thing originally.  Again.

I am still cooking healthy meals and taking healthy lunches.

I have committed to chugging as much darn water as possible.  So far it’s not NEARLY as much as I would like, but I am building.  My goal is to cut out soda almost completely.  Even though I drink diet coke, it still causes unneeded bloat.  And it MAY not be that good for me.

Now that my doc has given me Ambien, I am set on getting good sleep so I can find the energy to exercise 3 times a week.  As many of you commented on this post, a good way to kick some of the depression is to MOVE MY BOOTY.  I totally agree.  Time is definitely a factor, but because Cort and I both get in free to the Ford Field House in GR, we are going to try to get there on my days off.  Other than that I am yet again RE-COMMITTING to using that treadmill in the basement.

ahem.

So, let’s recap:

  • continue healthy eating (please ignore the chalupa I had tonight)
  • more water
  • better/more sleep
  • more butt moving and less butt sitting.

My first weigh in for Healthy Train is Feb 4.  That is only 3 weeks away.  I really want to have SOMETHING significant lost…even if it just means that I am not constantly swinging back to fricking 198.

Here we go…again.

  1. I have found that I am more consistent with dieting and exercise when I schedule it for myself. I have been actually writing in “7:15am – workout” on my calendar on all the days I plan on exercising. So far, so good!

    • my problem is I am at work by 7:15am. mornings just don’t work because I am already getting up at 5am. and when I get home, the hubs leaves for class. but I WILL find a time it works. I WILL!!!

  2. I know it’s difficult to get exercise in. I’ve have been there–teaching with a little one at home. I know time is not on your side. BUT I promise the exercise makes all the difference. Promise. Today I had a major, major bout of PMS & I took a 2 mile run. Oh my goodness. You wouldn’t believe the difference in my mood. Those endorphins are funny little creatures. And the exercise really compliments the healthy eating. Keep your chin up. 🙂

  3. It’s so hard to do this, but just take tiny steps and see the finish line….being healthy and feeling good for you first, then for your family too! The water, more movement, and better sleep will help so much.

  9. Friend, I’m with you. In fact, I may just go get myself a big ol’ glass of water to drink while I grade essays. But I can’t promise I won’t have a Diet Pepsi first to get a little caffeine in my veins. And we WILL find time to work out. We will. What should our first goal be? 5 lbs down? Let’s set some goals and do this since we’re at the same starting weight!

  10. I have always tried to have just me time, and I know that is hard in any given day. But my me time has now become my exercise time, and still really hard. If I could just get a few more hours in the day I think I could do it, but the clock only has 24. Good luck, you are doing great, keep it up.

    big props to you. Working full time and trying to exercise too? SO DANG HARD. I had a job where I could do it on my lunch hour, but obviously that doesn’t work for you. Maybe start with baby steps and just try for ONE day during the work week then both Saturday and Sunday.

  12. You CAN DO IT!!!! I would also make sure that you evaluate how you start your day (breakfast). Make sure it has protein, healthy fats and all that jazz so you don’t fall into that OMG I am so hungry but my lunch hour isnt’t until xyz time and I just needa candy bar type moments!

  14. Get that treadmill up out of your basement and put it smack dab in front of your television. Aren’t you more likely to work out if you can distract yourself while you do it? Or if you can keep an eye on the little one at the same time? Or if your husband can tell you about his day at the same time?

    My husband and I recently bought an elliptical and he was adamant that it would not go in our living room (in front of the TV, where I wanted it because I KNEW I would use it more there) because it would be an eyesore. “THIS,” I said, pointing to my flab, “THIS IS AN EYESORE.”

    The elliptical is in our living room. We both work out for 30 minutes every day. Him first, and then me, while he prepares dinner.

    My husband admitted I was right a week later. 😉

    • It is in front of the TV downstairs, but we are never home at the same time until our little guy is in bed, and by that time it’s so late. We have time issues right now and that is the biggest obstacle, but yes…doing it in front of the TV is much better than staring at the wall!
