Stepping Out Saturday

I know, I know…today is supposed to be McFatty Monday and/or Meal Planning Monday.

But I am just not feeling it.

Last week was ridiculous and my choices were out of survival more than being health-conscious.  I worked full-time as usual and taught Monday and Wednesday nights as usual–which by itself has been a struggle for me with making healthy choices AND with keeping my mental health in tact.  But also this week?  I had parent/teacher conferences Tuesday and Thursday nights.

I hardly saw Cort, and I only saw Eddie maybe 4 hours in 4 days.

So I don’t want to talk about my McFatty-ness.

Instead, I thought I would hook up with Harper’s Happenings for Stepping out Saturday…because guess what…I totally went on a DATE WITH CORT Saturday night!

This is probably our first date in three months!  It was so fun (thanks to Cody and Liz for babysitting!)!

not the best shot, but it's hard to get a toddler to pose!

Eddie and I posed for a picture before we packed him up to take to his auntie and uncle’s house.

On Eddie:

overalls and onsie: Osh Gosh

shoes: Target

On me:

Jeans and tank: Gap Outlet

jacket: Old Navy

shoes: Target (Mudd brand)

headband: New York and Co

Earrings: a gift for being a bridesmaid; they are real Montana silver

bracelet: I THINK that is a premier bracelet (can’t remember)

After dropping Eddie off at Cody and Liz’s house, Cortney and I hit Old Navy (I needed another pair of pants for the work rotation), Bed, Bath, & Beyond (we needed a new candle for the kitchen), Barnes & Noble (Cort needed something new to read.  He got Hunger Games), and then the Verizon store (we got new phones!  Buy a Droid, get any other phone FREE!!!).

Once our shopping was done, we hit Logan’s for dinner and drinks.  It felt so darn good to be out with my husband on a DATE!  We got to chat and laugh and enjoy our meals and drinks without having to be on Eddie’s eating schedule.

And when we picked Eddie up, he was all cozy in his jammies and ready for bed!

It was a glorious evening!  The kind that I totally took for granted before having Eddie.  I miss the alone time with Cort and I hope we can swing another evening away again sometime soon!

  1. So cute! And how nice that you guys got to take advantage of some alone time!

  2. Oh man, you are too adorable! A DATE!! Those are few and far between, and you SO needed it I think. Now you can start your week off on a great note, I hope!

    • I DID so need it, you are completely right! We really should have a standing date night at least once a month…it’s just good for us!

  3. That is so great – my DH and I have been struggling a bit (with life) and I think we need to enact a regular date night. I miss him. And I need to go have a nice leisurely 3 hour dinner – like we USED to! ha!

    Thanks for the story!

    • tell me about it! we have been struggling with life for some time now. It seems to catch up with us. A regular date night is a wonderful idea. We almost need to set aside one Saturday night per month and make it happen!

  4. so awesome! congrats on getting a date night. 🙂

  5. We had a date night this weekend as well – went out of town for a wedding and left Matthew with grandma and grandpa for 2 days. It was wonderful! We missed Matthew but we enjoyed being just a couple again this weekend.

You looked great! Such a cute outfit.

    • ah, that is AWESOME! I know how it goes…you miss the little guy so much, but oh man is it a great thing for a couple to have some time away!! We have done that once or twice since Eddie was born and it was lovely! Well done 🙂

  6. you look great and the night sounds wonderful. although a little old school… bed bath and beyond! LOL!

    • i know! ha! but i needed a new candle and it’s right between old navy and barnes and noble, so we stopped in! He he! the sad thing? I could have looked around in that store the longest! ha!

  7. You are adorable and I want to squeeze the shat out of you! I also am super jealous that we don’t have any Targets around these parts.
I am so glad that you guys got out and enjoyed each other! You have to let me know how the droid is! I just got a letter on Friday from out phone company saying that I can upgrade my phone for free since we’ve been with them forever and a day. I’m on the hunt!

    • he he…squeeze the shat out of me. I would love if you would!!! I don’t think I could live without a Target. One of my best friends lived in North Dakota for awhile and was 2 hours away from the nearest Target. I would die.

So far I LOVE the Droid! We have been with Verizon forevah too. We got a buy a Droid 2 and get ANY other phone free! We should have spent over $400, but left only spending just under $200! SCORE!

  8. adorable! you need to post a picture of you & Cort all dolled up for your date too!

    • Thank you!!! He didn’t want his picture taken because he felt “under-dressed”, but he looked great too! He had on a button down shirt and jeans…i have no idea why that is “under-dressed”! Ha!

  9. You guys look so cute!

I really need to schedule a date night. And soon! I think that it’s important to make time for date’s with one another almost as much as making “me” time!

    • I agree! This used to be standard Saturday behavior…dinner for sure and maybe some errands together. Now? It hardly ever happens. I used to take it for granted–or didn’t realize how special the time was. No more! We are trying very hard to schedule at LEAST one date night a month now!

  10. Hunger Games. Tell Cort nice choice.

  11. I think you look so great, BTW! Haven’t been over here in awhile (life, you know)…and you look great.

    • I do know how life gets…sigh…

but thank you for thinking I look great! I have to hear that once in awhile! Thank you, friend!

  12. Beautiful mama and tot! Love your jacket girl! Off to check them out 😉
