Back to The Flip List…

Oh hey there, friends!

Today is the day to flip-off all the stuff during the week that has been driving you crazy!  It’s a great way to let go of the weekday stress and make a smooth, happy transition into the weekend.

So I am going to get started, mm-kay?

First, I need to flip-off the wind.  It started blowing Tuesday morning and it is FINALLY dying down.  As I posted on Wednesday, those winds were so crazy and swirly that we had tornado watches and warnings all over the place!  We had to do the whole “duck and cover” with a book over our heads routine twice in school.  It was not a big day for learning.  So?  Flip-off, WIND!

Next, I am going to flip-off the little cut on the tip of my finger.  You are healing nicely, but now your little skin flap keeps getting caught on every single piece of fabric in my life.  You are annoying.  Heal over already.  Sheesh.  Flip-off!

Ok seriously…this next one is driving me absolutely farking bonkers.  I have a ZIT COLONY on the right side of my chin.  Seriously?  What is going on here?  It started as one damn pimple.  Then it spread.  I have like five and a couple stragglers on my neck.  What am I?  thirteen all over again?  Do I REALLY need to go out and buy ZIT CREAM?!?  GAH!  FLIP-OFF with BOTH fingers!!!

I am also flipping off our lack of food in the house this week.  My lunches have sort of sucked this week and it’s sort of my fault.  I was lazy with the grocery list and therefore food did not magically appear in the house.  Very sad.  Flip off to you, grocery fail!

Ok, this one might lose me friends, but I am flipping off Halloween.  I can’t really pinpoint any good reason other than it seems like a hoopla of effort for not a whole lot of fun.  I just don’t like it.  I like fall decor and everything else that comes with October, but Halloween?  No.  You get the flip off.

And lastly, I always have a special flip-off for postpartum depression.  The writing prompt for The Red Dress Club this week was to create a character sketch of a villain.  This was all I could think of:  my own mind.  So flip-off, PPD for doing this to me!

Have some stuff to flip-off?  You know you do!  Head on over to Momma Kiss’ place and link on up…or just read more vent-tastic posts flipping crap off.

  1. Katie, this really tickled me! Very funny!!

I really don’t have any “flip-offs”, but yours amused me 🙂 thanks for the giggle!

    • Glad I could give you a chuckle on a Friday! I do them each Friday…it’s sort of a stress reliever for me 🙂

  2. Very, very funny Katie.

I’m totally with you on Hallween. I really can’t see what all the fuss is about but have to go along with all the hoopla for the kids. So I shall join you in flipping off Halloween.

    • We do the least amount possible for Halloween. I have never ever been very into it. Not even as a kid.

  3. Oh no! Don’t flip off Halloween. It can be super fun making a total ass of yourself. For realz…check out my costumes from previous Halloweens!
PS. PPD can suck it hard.

    • Oh I love making an ass of myself…actually, it would probably be fun if we actually had somewhere to go all dressed up. But we never do.

ps. yes, PPD can suck it REAL hard.

  4. I miss my flippin off days. I totally am with you on that crazy wind, adult acne (I have a colony on my neck as we speak), and Halloween. My daughter was sick and missed her “fall” party and had a full blown meltdown. Really? They don’t even call it a halloween party. Lame-o. Plus with soccer, weather, and sickness, we have no jack-o lanterns. 🙁

    • oh man! all of that so deserves a giant flip-off! I hope your Thanksgiving goes better than your Halloween! So sad! 🙁

  5. Very funny – I’m not using to flipping off at all, but I enjoyed this! I’m sure I could get into the concept.

  6. don’t be flipping off Halloween. What did it ever do to you but give you sweet, sweet, candy treats?

    • i’ve just never been into it. maybe because we didn’t get to have cool costumes as kids (we was po’) or because I teach and it ALWAYS gives me headaches even though our school doesn’t allow dressing up…I don’t know. Just never really liked it.

  7. Hi Katie,
flip off annoying drivers.. live in Texas and the people just don´t know how to drive their big SUVs…
    your post made me laugh!
    Happy weekend,
    Franziska

  8. Funny- thanks for the laugh. Although some commenters say they never thought of flipping off anything, I just can’t believe that! They just never verbalized it!

    • I think we ALL flip stuff off–mentally, anyway! The blog is just a fun place to put it out there! 🙂

  9. Never tried it but… sounds like it has potential 😀

I’m with you on Halloween ~ its all so commercial and not having been brought up celebrating it, its seems slightly strange. When my girls were little it was a good excuse to walk around the block and say Hi to neighbors you see once a year (we are a really tight knit community!!). Except for one house I always enjoyed ~ one of the girls friends from Kindergarten whose parents doled out M’s hard lemonade to the parents! Now the girls would rather go around with their friends so.. they ditch me and one of Dad’s follows behind at a discrete distance.

Cut on your finger ~ got a fix for that! Add a tiny drop of clear nail polish.

One of my own … Customer Service that is outsourced to someplace where the understand my accent even less than here! Oh yeah ~ very cathartic Thank You 😀

Making another sign now \oo/ Hang loose!

    • ha ha! See! Feels good to just flip off the annoyances of every day life! Thanks for dropping by!!!
